Not completely just yet, but in a few milliseconds my guess is things are gonna get much worse

Hey pulse, you ever see any of the old F-1 stuff when Senna was in full stride? In his hey day I never missed a race and recorded lots of 'em, hell I used to set my alarm and get up at 3 or 4am just so I could see the races live.

Recently I've DLed a bunch of 'em and re-watched 'em and have renewed my stance on Senna as a true master. How awesome it could have been with Shooie and Senna teamed up together at Ferarri!

Senna, like Michael would have been long retired by now but they'd have put on some great battles trying to one-up one another to claim championship titles in the interim had he not been killed drivin for Williams/Renault

Amazingly, he walked away just fine. That was the Bahrain GP last weekend. One of the first truly good races in a while, with lots going on.

I've been an F1 fan since the mid 90s. I missed the Senna era really. Races here typically are on around 10pm, so it wasn't until I bought a little hand held TV as a teenager that I had the opportunity to get into it.

I've seen many races from the older days, managed to download some, but really haven't ever had the chance to see much. I bought the Senna movie on Bluray and that gives you a pretty good look at some of the highlights, but yeah full end to end races, not so much. Top Gear (UK) did a fantastic tribute to him a few years back too.

Another pair I'd have liked to have seen more of are James Hunt and Niki Lauda, particularly after watching Rush. Shame there's also very little accessible footage of Stirling Moss in action.

There's been some amazing drivers over the years, and yeah I'd love to see more of the historic races, the amazing ones.

Senna's death was a tragedy for the sport, but also a blessing. The technology that came out of his accident has protected every driver since, not a single fatality and barely even an injury. Felipe Massa's is the worst I can recall, copping part of a suspension spring to the helmet in 2009, took him out for the rest of the season.

This year looks like it'll be all Mercedes. While I'm glad it's not Sebastian Vettel winning everything again this year, I don't want him to simply be replaced by somebody else.

After some serious diggin around on YouTube I located many of the races from the Senna/Prost/Mansell era and one race in particular (Monaco in 84) really shows Senna as the young lion and just how amazing he could be. In a torrential downpour he was reeling in the then world champion Prost to the tune of 3 seconds a lap and the finish (red flagged due to the rain) was actually controversial as it appears Prost stops just at the line as Senna blasts by him!

With James Hunt at that point working commentary it's also interesting to hear his appreciation for Sennas talents and predicting him in his rookie F-1 season as a future world champion.

Yeah, I have Rush, Senna and the tribute Top Gear did in my collection too, awesome stuff

I'm going to have to dig up some more old footage. At least that's something YouTube is good for. To be honest I barely ever use the site. plus613 is better - pictures FTW!

Spanish Grand Prix on tomorrow night, qualifying in 2.5h. More Mercedes up front, hopefully Ricciardo in the mix. I miss Mark Webber, one of the last true characters in F1. These days there's so much corporatocracy going on with the racing drivers, nobody has much personality. At least Kimi is still out there doing his thing and saying things how they are, even though I reckon he'll give it up soon enough.

I guess I spoke too soon with Jules Bianchi's accident in Japan this year. Add another very serious injury to the list, and even though some 2 months later he's finally breathing by himself, if he ever does come out of the coma he'll likely be a vegetable.

Very sad for what looked like he was going to be a great talent.

Next year's season will hopefully be interesting; the old McLaren-Honda team again, a number of top driver movements, etc. Hopefully we won't see Mercedes dominate again like they did this year, but the highlight was Daniel Ricciardo stealing the show in most races. If he can be in a vaguely competitive car he'll likely be champion one day.

I guess I got a bunch wrong here.

Jules Bianchi never woke up; Ricciardo was never a champion; Mercedes dominated for another 7 years; McLaren-Honda were garbage.
