Not meant as a jab against the fine pilots nor their acumen in their routines during their shows, or even the Aussie military in general, whom I have nothing but admiration for, but in all honesty, what relevance do prop driven planes, even hot rods like these planes, have anymore past civilian use?

If you cats down under were ever treated to a Thunderbirds or Blue Angels show I'd think ya'll would likely enjoy either one and very likely as well rather see such a show undertaken by some of your own fighter jets as opposed to these prop driven hot rods.

Again, please understand this comment/query is not meant in any way as a slight, most especially since I see you cats down there as holding the closest thing to a Texan mindset in the "civilized world" as anyone, this is seriously just a question of how such a show has relevance in the modern realm of aviation

The Roulettes - does that mean it's a gamble every time they go up?

I doubt they have any actual use outside demonstrations. The roulettes are commonly found doing acrobatic displays at big events (such as the formula one Grand Prix). There's absolutely no military use I can think of for them.

We used to use Macchi jets. We can't afford to crash any of our fighter aircraft.
