What is wrong with this picture?
Alright, I know no one is going to get it so I'll spill the beans...
William Tell was not an archer, he was a crossbowman. Crossbow bolts are
shorter, thicker and have no fletching.
Also during the the supposed time of W. Tell button-down collars did not exist.
They weren't introduced until the 19th century.

Edit: Crossbow bolts do have fletching, albeit less than a long-bow arrow.
Also, the boy is in a thin cotton shirt, which shows it is probably high summer,
the apple on his head would not be ripe/available till late autumn.

You're right HP, some bolts do have fletching. Good observation on the shirt
and apple too.

You can thank Wikipedia for being wrong about the fletching.

You've got some serious problems Digger.
At least I attempt to verify things before I blabbermouth about them.
I wasn't sure about the fletching but I knew that this wasn't a crossbow bolt in
the pic because it is too light and long and that W. Tell was a crossbowman.
That's why I looked for details.
