That guy's site is kinda funky but kinda fun. That's the only rendition of the Russian Peasant Multiplication I've seen using fingers and it seems incomplete/limited compared to other descriptions, which are also interesting. It's apparently a matter of converting everything to base 2 (binary) for calculations. The Egyptians had a earlier method that's basically the same but historians can't say where it really originated. I suspect things like that developed independently across the world at different times.
