The world is backwards. This is the third year in a row that we have had
basically a 'non-winter' here in southern Ontario (Canada). Considering that
'typical' by February used to be snow drifts halfway up my kitchen window, the
fact I've taken my shovel out of the basement once in about 3 years is just
plain freaky. We got an inch or two of snow last night but come Monday it's
going to be above freezing again all week.
I am not complaining.

Here in Arkansas we just got a winter weather advisory for Monday with 4 inches
expected, then the temps are supposed to rise around 60 for mid week. Hopefully
that will spell the end of winter for us. I cannot put enough clothes on a stay
warm anymore, but I can take off enough to stay cool or use my air conditioner.
Heaters just don't work as well when I got older.

I've lived in Southwest Florida my entire adult life, over 30 years, and the
cold seems to bother me less now than it did just a few years ago. I think I
spent so many years working outdoors in the summer heat that my internal
thermostat is broken and I prefer the cold.

I spent most my time in the Navy in the tropics and after I got out I hated
winter and just couldn't get warm since.

I've lived and traveled all over the United States. We get a lot of rain here
in the Pacific Northwest but the weather is really mild compared to many other
places so I like it here...

Pacific Northwest is beautiful but entirely too much winter. Arkansas has less
winter but still too much. I'm hoping for polar shift to occur.

i would immediately reconsider wanting a polar shift more than 1 degree from
the normal float.

You're right JG, PNW usually has entirely too much winter. This winter has been
mild for a change. There have a been a couple of storms that were nasty but over
all it's been better. I really like the weather in California but I can't stand
living there. Too many people = too many idiots and assholes. I lived in
California growing up but as soon as I was able to I got the fuck out of there
and moved to Oregon, where my mom was from. I've been here ever since except for
a couple of short stints that I gave California another try.
I have visited some of the southern states but they seem too warm and humid to
me. It would be nice if I'd have grown up in that region and was accustomed to
it though. I like the people there. Oregonians are a lot like southerners in
many ways.

California is the "Cereal State"
chock full of flakes, nuts, and fruits...

It's 2/3 cereal and 1/3 taco.

One projection for a polar shift I saw was a 40 degree shift and put the
equator just below New York. That would put Arkansas just south of the equator
and that would be fine for me.
Hot and humid is easier for me to get used to than cold and dry. I set up at an
outdoor fleamarket every weekend and many years the summer temps exceed 90
degrees and all I need is a good fan blowing to get through the day. In the
winter with 20 degree temps and north winds of 20mph there is nothing I can do
to stay warm. Even going home won't warm me up in the winter. Been doing the
fleamarket for 25 years now and love it but low temps make it difficult. Guess
I am getting old.
