With unemployment the way it is now is it wise to tell the truth at work?
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: September 25, 2011 01:08PM
the way unemployment is, it's wiser to make them fire you rather than quit.

BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: September 25, 2011 02:53PM
That's too bad about the job but I sure can understand. Shit happens and these
days it happens a lot more often in the workplace.
jgoins Report This Comment Date: September 26, 2011 09:57AM
I didn't know you could get unemployment if you were fired?
BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: September 26, 2011 02:08PM
It depends. I have gotten UI comp after getting fired and after quitting. Why
you got fired or quit makes a difference and you can get a hearing if benefits
are denied.
jgoins Report This Comment Date: September 27, 2011 10:30AM
I wonder if yuo could get UE comp if you quit because of having seizures at
work. My daughter has been having them at McDonalds and passing out but they
won't fire her.

You can't unemployment if you are physically unable to work.

if she's having seizures then she certainly shouldn't be near a deep-fryer..she
should work in a
softer environment...

jgoins... if their serious enough she might be able to get disability. Most
likely it would be a long shot though but my girlfriend's mother has been
getting disability for ten years now for her bipolar disorder,600 a month!
BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: September 28, 2011 03:28AM
SS Disability is a bitch to get. Majority of cases are denied in the first
round. The average time to get SSD approved and paid for is with appeals and all
the rigamarole I've heard from docs and social workers who have dealt with the
process is around 2 years. That includes time for extra doc visits and
specialists. Good luck.
jgoins Report This Comment Date: September 28, 2011 10:23AM
I agree, she shouldn't be working or even driving for that matter but she wants
to work and her deadbeat husband isn't even trying to get a job. She spent all
day yesterday at U of A Medical Center and they found nothing and cleared her
for work. She even had to pull over on the drive there and passed out, she can
feel it coming on. Her boss at McDonalds thinks she is faking and is forcing
her to work or quit which is why I asked about UE comp. Just wish I was rich so
I could fix things for her and my granddaughter.

pro_junior Report This Comment Date: September 28, 2011 05:36PM
well jgoins if she has a seizure and gets hurt at mickey-dees you may just all
get rich after all...I hope for her sake that doesnt happen...money doesnt heal
scars or pain...
I know someone that worked for GMC in the mid 90's, for I think around 2 years
total... then she began having grand-mal seizures which the doctors could not
explain since she apparently didn't have epilepsy...doc said she couldn't work
or drive anymore...GM disability was amazing, she got something like 80% of her
gross pay for a couple years after that, it eventually dwindled down 60% and
ultimately down to 40% which she was still getting, the last I knew, about 2
years ago...
I would suggest a new doctor and attempting to find some resources for jobs that
she can safely do and/or look into SSI...
and fossil, yeah I think that too

better be nice.
I sure hope your girl gets the help she needs. That sounds really fucking
scarey. It could be something really simple like a vitamin deficiency or other
chemical imbalance.

hey Quas, how's that Junior voodoo doll comin'?
BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: September 29, 2011 07:37PM
Fuck. My bad, PJ posted that not FD. I'm an idiot and I'm ok. Well, they're
both bastards that way so I wasn't off the mark anyway. What's the voodoo doll
for? You gonna wrap it's legs around it's head and tie em in a knot?
You ever play the old Simpsons computer game? Bart has a voodoo doll of Homer
and you can make Bart stick a pin in it's eye and can hear Homer yell from the
other room, "OW! My eye!" or in the head and he yells, "Marge! My
head hurts again!" and goofy stuff like that.
Speaking of ow my eye, I just had cataract surgery two days ago and don't let
anybody tell you that it doesn't hurt. As soon as the drugs wear off it feels
like someone poked you in the eye with a sharp stick and a killer ice-cream
headache. Then the next day it feels like someone punched you in the fucking eye
really hard. By day 3 it doesn't hurt very much at all so that's cool. It takes
a while for the vision to clear up but every day it's getting better. Small
price to pay for good eyesight and my eye was completely blind before the
surgery. I'm happy.
pro_junior Report This Comment Date: September 30, 2011 02:37AM
whats that old joke about the fellow of asian descent driving about in a
'cataract'? can't remember how it goes...
but hey blah, congratulations man...I have a very close friend that has had
multiple surgeries on each of her eyes and her left eye is completely fubar...it
has to be an incredibly bright light for her to see it with her dead eye...so I
can somewhat relate vicariously I guess, and sure it hurts now but fuck yeah you
got some vision back, right on!

Thanks PJ. The eye is doing fine today. Doesn't hurt at all. It will still be
blurry for a while but it clears a little every day. I know I've heard that joke
but can't remember it either.

Got another followup in two weeks. I am already
seeing things better even though the lt eye is still foggy it's enough visual
information to the brain to get better depth perception but at times it makes me
a little bit dizzy and disoriented.

Wish my eye condition could be cured with surgery, I really miss driving. I
haven't a a driver's license in over 20 years. Getting used to wife and others

Blah, heard all the Goins jokes ever done. My eye condition is hereditary,
Retinitis Pigmentosis. Transmitted by the X linked gene. There is a good
chance one of my male grandchildren will have it since my daughter is a carrier.
Nothing can be done until complete eye transplants are successful.
BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: October 03, 2011 01:56PM
That really sucks. Too bad about the eyes, too.
Seriously, that is some rotten luck. I feel for you.
I am grateful I was able to get this peeper fixed and that it is coming along
well. Another week and the vision should be pretty clear. It gets a little
better every day. Considering that I was completely blind in that eye I had
nothing to lose and cataract surgery is 90-something-% successful. Plus the
gubmint paid for something useful for a change
