Wow Junior, thanks for the tip. Are we experiencing a bread shortage/gap?
Since I enjoy pumpernickel and rye the most I guess I better go grab some before
it disappears from the shelves
In relation to the above image it always seems curious to me that open
discussion between parties is always viewed as the way any differing positions
can best be explored, yet somehow doing so on the 'net is supposed to magically
suspend that dynamic.
If anyone can explain the difference between how holding a conversation in
person compared to doing the same thing in this medium is different I'd
certainly be curious to read that

From my own perspective, I can't recall ever changing my opinion from a
discussion I have had on the 'net, but I have considered things and formed
opinions not previously held from such discussions. I can say the same thing for
face to face discussions though, so I have to ask the same question as Mrkim -
why is there a difference?
jgoins Report This Comment Date: August 13, 2011 10:59AM
There is no difference, some people just think there is. Probably because they
can't read a persons face on the internet during a discussion. Words just
aren't good enough for some people.

The internet is not real life, nothing here matters.
You can only change the real world if you make your opinions heard in the real
world.
Making and or winnnig a point in the internet only changes the internet, not the
real world.

it's the argument of the internet debate loser.

Mrkim Report This Comment Date: August 13, 2011 11:42PM
By your same reasoning 'berto I suppose corporate and government conferences
held online which can offer input from all across the globe would similarly be
viewed as less than real. Or perhaps the twitter and facebook forums that lead
to social upheaval to the point those in power have shut down the 'net as a
means of heavy handedly controlling citizen participation are equally
inconsequential, right?
I'll have to take exception to that whole line of reasoning since the dialogue
being held is far more important than whatever medium is used to allow the
dialogue to take place. Secondly as has been evidenced in recent times, without
the internet as an alternative medium for discourse some events themselves would
have been minimized if not totally shut down completely, thereby again
reinforcing the overall importance as well as the validity of these avenues for
communication

So I guess you think there are no real people reading the internet. Words are
words even if they are on the internet. Books change people, newspapers change
people so what is the difference between books and newspapers and the internet?
Is it the paper material which changes people or is it the words? It does not
matter where the words appear it is the words which move and change people not
the medium. Anywhere 2 or more people gather can be a discussion place even
this little ole website. All that matters is the ideas the words express.

...just chill the fuck out and eat a sandwich...
I think the point of the graphic above is not that people shouldn't discuss
things, rather just don't be a dick about it...

Take it u with the authors, I just reposted it, I am incapable of original
thoughts, artwork or ideas.

Take your discussions anywhere you happen to be and don't worry about it being
the internet.
