any ideas on how to fix this? pops up every time I start firefox and then just
at random times...
I click cancel and it goes away and immediately re-appears...
after I go thru the
click cancel - close - reopen - click cancel - close
-reopen routine
for about 20 times it stays gone for awhile...
I made the background with the stars and arrows etc because copypasta of just
error message by itself was too small to upload...
and I was bored...and it looks way cooler this way...
all error messages should be so aesthetically pleasing...
everything
i ever needed to know about life, I learned from a dancing green banana... a
dancing green banana...

I'm guessin you've already deleted your cookies and cache but if not that could
be worth a try. You might also wanna take a look at you per site permissions to
see if anything's amiss though I doubt that will be much help unless you find
some glaring anomaly.
What OS are you runnin and what version of Firefox? You might try doin a search
mentioning this issue relevant to the OS and version you're runnin and see if
anyone else mentions similar issues and if so has a fix been found?
Just kinda pokin around here really, but hey, what could it hurt

Clear your download history in Firefox.

1. start run shut down
2.un plug computer
3. carry your windows based machine to nearest trash receptacle dropping it
several times along the way
4. drive to nearest apple store and purchase a MACintosh computer
5 Problem solved!!!!!

Check for malware and re-install the mouse driver.

Sorry to say SO, but throwin $$ out to solve a problem that really only
requires a bit of personal effort and ingenuity dudn sound like a reasonable
course of action.
My preference will always be to stay with the real deal open source Linux OS
that runs on pretty much any hardware over Macs commercially modded Linux kernel
that runs on their high dollar short list of hardware.
Of course many of the Mac fan boys don't know Mac is using a custom Linux kernel
for their OS, something which actually allows Mac to save $$ overall, though
these savings in OS costs are NOT shared with their Mac consumer base by
lowering the costs of their products
Different strokes for different folks but any of my Linux machines will run head
to head beside a similarly specced Mac machine for at a bare minimum of 1/3 less
the cost overall.
All in all Macs vs a Linux Ubuntu machine remind me a lot of the difference
between just gettin a good cup o joe and gettin a cup at Starbucks. Both are
still good coffee, one just hangs a fancy name on theirs and charges more for it

okay so I fucked up...it doesnt do it when I start firefox...I have 3 'users'
on this pc, myself, my son, and one that is just for music...it only does this
error bullshit when I log on to mine, doesn't happen to my son or to the
music...sorry for the mis-information earlier...I have updated all software that
I think could be causing this and done a few scans for virus and
malware...nothing has worked so far..
btw, if I just ignore the message everything still works just fine, its just
annoying...
pro_junior Report This Comment Date: July 18, 2011 05:31PM
also...sometimes it says ipoint.exe and sometimes it says mysirius.exe (or
something like that for the sirius radio...)
Mrkim Report This Comment Date: July 18, 2011 05:57PM
If you use those 2 .exe's then look at the permissions/settings for each of
them and see if something's amiss. If you're not using one or both of 'em do a
search for all files with their names as a part of the file and make sure to
include the hidden files & delete them bitches!
Or, try deleting all the files for each and reinstallin 'em & see if you
still have the problem

Your first mistake was letting your son on the thing. I shared my first PC with
my two youngest sons for a couple of years (ages 11 and 13 when I got it) then
learned the error of my ways and got my own.
Mrkim Report This Comment Date: July 18, 2011 07:09PM
I waddn gonna say that quasi, so thanks for mentionin it
When my youngest daughter was livin with me I set her up as a user on my machine
(the only 1 I had at the time). Her MySpace and other surfin used to
occasionally crash my machine which really sucked as it required a restart and
reopening everything I had runnin on my user when I got back on.
One day she came over to the shop in a panic and said there was somethin
seriously wrong with the computer and I needed to come look at it. When I got
in front of the screen it had pop ups runnin like crazy & when I asked
what she did she said she had gotten a message there was a virus on the machine
and did she want to click the link to fix it and that's when the crap
started.
I sat there for a minute lettin all this crap continue to fill the screen and
asked her how many times I'd mentioned that with Linux we couldn't GET a virus?
Anyway, i reached over & pressed the reset, told her to log in and she was
on her merry way again, sans any popups. Too bad it waddn that easy for Pro

ipoint.exe is the MS Intelipoint mouse driver and enhancement software. I has
and can be targeted my malware. I'm sure you can stop and disable it if you go
to the Management (rt click on My Compuker and select Manage) then Services and
Applications then services, find it in there and stop it and disable it. Your
mouse will still work it it's a wired mouse. It might still work if wireless.
Online radio things like sirius may have been targeted by malware too. I haven't
done a whole lot of specific research but suggest that you do. That is if you
want to eliminate the problem(s).
Try SuperAntiSpyware. Last version I tried was free and did a good job. Better
than AdAware and SpybotS&D but on stubborn malware I've use all three and
then some.
woberto Report This Comment Date: July 19, 2011 05:23AM
It's not malicious, spyware or a virus, it's just Firefox being a bitch.
Of course it could also be due a USB drive that wasn't "safely
removed" but this shouldn't happen on Linux.
Try [

Heh. There's a lot of shit that "shouldn't happen" in linux. Sorry, I
somehow missed he's using ubuntu.
Mac's don't crash and never get viruses either, right?

I wonder if it would still work...

I think it was a knopix boot cd we used for resetting admin pwd in WinNT/2K/XP.
Hell, it could have been anyix. It was not the distro of linux that mattered but
the program to access and rewrite that part of the registry in Win.
You can clean infections from a Windows box using bartPE or really any OS that
will let you do a r/w mount of the drives and execute a/v program.
