Hmmm is giving a picture a 1 based purely on who posted it an insult?

I was noticing some stuff recently posted by Fossil and I think Pro, maybe Orlando I don't really remember were all given 1 vote each and it was all 1s.

I figured it might be a regular with a home page doing it just because he doesn't like them so I started clicking on names to see who has those in there recently most hated list.

To my shock and dissapointment it turned out to be Quasi :-(

I just call 'em like I see 'em. On the whole I give more fours and fives than ones and twos with a healthy dose of threes in there. And if it's a large file I often just skip it altogether 'cause I'm still on dialup.

I apologize if I jumped to the wrong conculsion there Quasi.

It's just from what I have read on the forums here and in some image comments certain posters seem to be strongly disliked by other posters and some anons based solely on their personality and I think it has little or nothing to do with the quality of their images.

I've seen some strong evidence that some vote more based on who posted the picture than how much they liked or didn't like it. We all have to right to voice our opinions with out votes or lack of voting but I don't think it was supposed to be based on personal biases and meant to be based on how much the viewer liked the image. Who posted it really shouldn't matter but once you get to know the person a little it's usually going to be a factor.

how about this...you post a pic and then later find out its a re-post, so you go the original poster's homepage and see that they voted their post a 5 and yours a 1...it's the same pic!!
I honestly could not care less what people vote on my uploads as most of them are pics that I found somewhere else anyway and not actually mine...

I use the voting system mostly as a tool to move from one pic to the next but I do try to give an honest opinion of how I feel about the pic regardless of who posted it. Sometimes it's a little tough as in the pics of the fires in Australia; fantastic visually but horrendous in reality. Overall, though, as the old saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
