Hell, you would only need one of them to last for years. You don't actually
eat them, though. They're so hot, you only have to wave them over your food.

Wave 'em over my food, bah ! I wanna try 'em out and see if they're really as
hot as they claim. Never found anything yet that was too hot for this ol Texan,
though I've had tons of people bring me peppers, hot sauce and dip over the
years that they said was so hot I couldn't or wouldn't eat it .... yeah right
This does remind me of a good pepper story though .....
One day 2 buddies and I were havin lunch at a nice Mescan place by the shop and
I had asked our young waiter to bring me 4 fresh jalapenos with my meal, which
he'd done.
I was chompin merrily away on a pepper while I ate and noticed our waiter headin
over to check on us and saw a look of astonishment on his face as he approached.
When he got to the table he asked "Are those peppers hot?" to which I
replied "Nah, not really, but they're good, and thanks for rememberin
'em."
He just stood there for a cuppla seconds and then asked "Have you ever
eaten anything that WAS hot?". After ponderin that for a good 1/2 second
or so I looked him in the eye and said "Yeah, my wife, but then she IS a
red head!".
I don't think I've ever seen a cat turn such an interesting shade of red as our
young waiter padded away

I've got a brother, also in Texas, who was always a serious iron-gut mofo, back
when we were younger. It was pretty rare for him to find anything that would
get his attention and make him say, "Ok, that's just about hot
enough." Now that he's almost 50, I don't know if he can still hang with
the big dogs. I know that my own system isn't nearly as robust as it used to
be.

I dunno woberto, every hot sauce I've ever had, even a few I've come across
that those cats down in Austin sell are really hot and all, but the problem I
have with such stuff is that it's "just" hot, but misses the mark in
the flavor category. It's just not the same as eatin a fresh pepper with your
food, which is my preferred way to eat hot stuff, so they accentuate the meal,
or puntuate it

, depending on your perspective. And, one thing I've
learned over the years is that pickled peppers and other varieties of distilled
hot sauces and such make it harder when the actual seasonings make their
eventual exit of your system as opposed to simply eatin the actual fresh peppers
they're made from. Seems like the vinegar they all use as a base really spreads
the fire in a decidely unpleasant fashion on its way out. For this reason, I've
already put in an order for my sister to get me some of these peppers for my
upcoming 53rd Bday this next June. So, if I'm lucky, I should have a genuinely
HOT Bday celebration
In the mean time, here's another one that was funny: I was wanderin around at
the farmers market just outside downtown Big D one afternoon and came across an
ol Mescan woman sellin all kinds fresh peppers and decided to have some fun with
her when I noticed she had a buncha Habeneros for sale. I stopped and perused
her stock for a minute and then pointed to the Habeneros and sheepishly asked
"Are those hot?". She eyed me for a minute as a slow "Yeah"
rolled off her tongue. I asked "Mind if I try one?", to which she
said "Sure, go ahead" with a kinda sneer in her voice, as if she was
gonna have fun lightin up this unwary gringo.
Now I didn have anything else to eat, or drink with me, so I knew this might be
a bit of a challenge, but I thought, why not, this'll be fun, so I reached down
and grabbed a nice bright red one and ate it. BTW, one thing I've learned over
the years is that when any pepper turns red it's at its hottest stage and is
also the most poingnant in the flavor category, in most peppers it's actually
when it's at its juiciest stage and will have a slightly sweet taste to it, so
that's my favorite stage to eat 'em.
Anyway, she eyed me intensely as I was eatin the pepper, just waiting for the
howls she expected, and when I finished and looked at her and simply said
"That was pretty good, mind if I try another?", she slowly said,
"Nah, go right ahead.", with a gleam in her eyes thinkin the heat
haddn really sunk in from the 1st one just yet and that she was gonna for sure
get her reaction if I had another.
So, I reached down and grabbed another juicy red one and slowly chomped it down,
watchin her just like she was watchin me, but again, she didn get the intended
reaction she expected when I was finished and now this seemed to really piss her
off as she went into a sudden tirade tellin me "Those peppers ain't shit! I
make some hot sauce for some boys 'down in the valley' that's really HOT"
(Rio Grande Valley, close to the Texas/Mexico border)
I smiled at her, thanked her for her generosity for havin shared her wares with
me and walked away smilin
As a total aside to this 'berto, there's a donut place close to me here owned by
a nice Korean couple where I get fresh Thai peppers from their garden, which I
think are waaaaaay hotter than any Habeneros I've ever had. They're a nice treat
with their delicious egg, sausage and cheese breakfast burritos

Many years ago, my dad ordered a packet of seeds that were supposed to be bell
peppers, but weren't. We never knew exactly what they were, some kind of tiny
little red bastards, maybe 1/2" long. Just getting within 10 feet of the
plants was enough to make my eyes start watering and burn my nostrils. It was
kind of like getting tear-gassed, and not in a fun way. We couldn't even think
of a good use for them, and no one wanted to be in charge of picking them,
anyway. We just left them in the garden all Winter, and Dad plowed them under
the next year.

kim is crazy man, both times we had lunch he dared the cook too burn him. not a
drop of sweat......nada! my mom was the only other i've seen to tempt the
volcano ass and lips/tongue/mouth of fire.
