Yeah we just LOVE all the fuckin yankees that wanna move to Texas and then
claim it as home and even have some misguided idea they can call themselves

been to quite a few county fairs to boot and I'll take the Southern way of life,
pace and attitude any day over what I've seen in the original yankee
northeastern states where people look at you wierd for tryin to be friendly and
have the completely nonsensical idea that we're slow witted because we form
sentences that take longer than 3 seconds to pronounce.
No problem in me ever wantin to live in the north I assure ya, you can have it

jolt of enlightenment, and in a moment of complete and absolute clarity
it dawned on me -- my South is the best-kept secret in the country. Why
would I try to win this woman over? She might move down here.
I am always amused by Hollywood 's interpretation of the South. We are
still, on occasion, depicted as a collective group of sweaty, stupid,
backwards-minded, racist rednecks.. The South of movies and TV, the
Hollywood South, is not my South.
This is my South:
My South is full of honest, hardworking people. My South is the
birthplace of blues and jazz, and rock n' roll. It has banjo pickers and
fiddle players, but it also has BB King, Muddy Waters, the Allman
Brothers, Emmylou Harris and Elvis.
My South is hot. My South smells of newly mowed grass. My South was kick
the can, creek swimming, cane-pole fishing and bird hunting.
In my South, football is king, and the Southeastern Conference is the
kingdom.
My South is home to the most beautiful women on the planet.
In my South, soul food and country cooking are the same thing.
My South is full of fig preserves, cornbread, butter beans, fried
chicken, grits and catfish.

Oh yeah, 30yr ago has beens, that's oh-so appealing. With over 100 gigs of
music I have just about anything in digital media I care to own and only 2 from
the above mentioned bands are in there
If I wanna listen to music from that era The Cars, David Bowie, Cat Stevens,
Thin Lizzy, 10cc, Atlanta Rythym Section, Boz Scaggs, Steve Miller, Cream,
George Thoroughgood and The Destroyers, etc, etc. etc. are much more my
speed.
BTW ... Lynyrd Skynrd that's being trotted out these days, and for some time
now, is a joke, and a sad one at that

Marshall Tucker, then you SUCK, and I'm not talking about just a couple of their

Sorry dude "Can't You See" is the extent of my Marshall Tucker
collection and that suits me fine. I'll take The Cars over all the bands you
listed too. Molly Hatchet and 38 Special ... don't have any of their stuff,
don't like it, don't want any, no thanks
The only one in your list I have an extensive collection of is Lynyrd Skynyrd,
but really man, how many times can anyone listen to "Sweet Home
Alabama" and not be sick of it? Maybe I'm older, dunno, but I've heard
that stuff since it came out and it's rare that I ever key it up at all
anymore.
Gotta know though that I'm far from being a typical Texan. I despise country
music
PERIOD! I don't own a pair of cowboy boots, a hat (don't
really wear hats at all), nor do I own one of those god-awful rediculous belts
with my name on it or wear one of those belt buckles that double for a fuckin
boat anchor
Though lotsa folks think of Texas as some wild frontierish place I can assure

I know, I know, I'm just a Marshall Tucker Band Fan, haven't always been a big
fan, I just got a 'Best of..' when I was in my late 20's and found out that they
had some other stuff that I never really heard and liked it, as far as Lynyrd
Skynyrd, I won't touch anything from them except the originals. It's weird,
you're into Blues a lot huh? I kinda went down a similar path.... JAZZ!
Sometimes I just want to put some good music on that doesn't have any words
(OPINIONS) coming out of it....... I listen to all kinds of music... here's

I really dig music and have over 1100 artists in my collection. I listen to a
lotta different stuff, mainly rock, alternative rock, folk, jazz, but my all
time faves are female rockers/vocalists : Tori Amos, Suzanne Vega, Sarah
McLaughlin, Dido and all the way back to Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Pat Benatar,
and lots more.
Fossil did manage to drop me off a nice buncha bluesey stuff recently, then just
last weekend I got a hold of my G/Fs 18yo daughters collection and ripped it all
in to my HD too.
I gotta send a buddy of mine up in NJ a new HD so he can load up the 300+ gigs
he has in his collection for me.
BTW, there's a cool site I came across a link to from Musicbox (one of my Linux
music/multimedia players) that offers tons of varied new artists stuff for free
and legal DL called jamendo.com. You can sample each song off each artsist
compilation there and then DL it if you want. It also offers a way to donate to
the artists to help support the stuff you like, which is pretty cool too.
There's another place I frequent for all kinds of music, science, nature, comedy
bits, how-tos and other assorted video content called miro.com. There's
literally hundreds of different video channels there and some really cool stuff
all free for the taking. It also has a neat feature which is that say you find
a video track on Youtube that's not available for DL, well with miro you can DL
and then save it if you want

Just for kicks I looked miroguide up and it's the same thing as miro.
Maybe fossil can be more help with the blues stuff. I like it but it's more his
bag than mine. I know I came across a cuppla sweet jazz channels on miro
though.

Cool, I'd like to see them live-live, it's funny, one of the best places to see
blues and jazz is in a very personal small place.
One of the reasons I like jazz is the horns, I was never that into horns when I
was younger (I thought they were for nerds),so, now I found out they they were
cool or I myself turned into a giant nerd, either way I'm cool with that, that's
the weird thing about getting older, I get more hardline with some issues but
more laid back with others, anyway, I know I'm right so I don't care what others
think..... wait a second....................
