Islam is no better(and no worse) than Christianity!
Take Surah III, "The Family of Imran", v.14:

Beautiful for mankind is love of the joys (that come)
from women and offspring, and stored-up heaps of
gold and silver, and horses branded (with their mark),
and cattle and land. That is the comfort of the life of
the world. Allah! With Him is a more excellent abode.
(Surah III, "The Family of Imran", v.14)

Here the point being made that worldly things, while they may have their value, cannot compare to the glory of Allah and a life of service and submission to Allah-which is what Islam means: submission. But the view here of what is beautiful for mankind reflects social relations in which women, as well as children, are, in effect or literally, possessions of men.(from Away With All Gods! Now let's look at what the tenth Commandment, from Exodus 20 says:

You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.

There are many more similarities between the Qur'an and the Bible. And rightfully so, because Mohammad's foundation of the Qur'an, came from the Bible. I guess you could even look at this from a historical materialist viewpoint and it would seem that Islam is just another stage, a new synthesis, on Judaism. -lol!

What a lot of Americans understand about Islam is the fundamentalist side of it, and are ignorant of Muslim's that would never commit such horrific acts of violence that these fundamentalists do(I'm not in anyway saying that these non-fundamentalist Muslim's should not be confronted and criticized, in a polite and warm way, about their religiosity, as do Christians and any other people that have this "mental chain" on them. There are people, whose religious convictions, are motivating them to challenge these oppressive relations in society, but these same people's religious doctrines actually reinforces those same oppressive social relations. That is why they too should be confronted about this and transformed to take up a scientific approach and method to abolishing all oppressive social relation, as well as three other "all's" that I'm not going to get into now.). And yet a lot of these same Americans are ignoring or are ignorant of the very dangerous aspects within the fundamentalists of their own national religion, Christianity, as well as any religion(and again, this phenomenon also is something I'm not going to get into right now, but it is in the best interests of the ruling class of the U.S.).

Fundamentalist Buddhism, for example, can be very dangerous. Look at Tibet before 1949(and of course it is pretty bad off right now, after Mao).

But all religion is bad for humanity, and is a chain we have to and must break with if we are ever to get free.
