Most of these are interesting and reasonable, but what does 9-11 have to do
with gun control?
PW Report This Comment Date: February 22, 2008 04:12AM
nine one one dude. not 9-11. better tho have a gun in hand then to call 911 for
help i think is the point.

In the U.S., 911 has long been the phone number for emergency services, perhaps
why 9-11 was chosen by the terrorists. If you call 911 for the police, by the
time they get there it'll all be over - whatever the bad guys want to do will be
done.

So tell us...what is it like living every day so afraid that someone is gonna
break into your house and kill you that you need a gun in every room? Maybe
it's not someone out there....maybe it's your family members that live in the
house with you that are planning on killing you...they have been looking at you
strangely lately haven't they? Maybe you should get them before they get you.
The gun is right over there....go get it.

maybe you have been robbed (your business), your house, your car, yourself.
maybe your family, how many times would you be willing to risk your families
lives as well as your own before you did something about it?

I'm not afraid somebody's gonna get me but I do see in the news often enough
that there are home invasions happening pretty frequently so I don't think it
would hurt to be prepared to have equal footing or the upper hand if such a
thing did occur.
I also know that a few months ago, on the street corner not fifty feet from my
front door, one man was beating the crap out of another man who was already down
on the ground and all I was able to do was tell my kids to call 911 and go
outside and yell at him to stop, hoping
he didn't have a gun with which
he could make my kids into orphans. Fortunately he did stop, but by the time the
cops arrived the beater had run and the beaten managed to get up and stagger off
to who knows where. That's what calling 911 gets you, time enough for the bad
guy to run and the other guy to wander off and maybe die before he can be found.
And if the guy hadn't stopped when I yelled out? I should have had my 22 rifle
out to fire a shot into the dirt at my feet to make him think twice and pop one
into him if that didn't stop him.

I grew up with loaded shotguns and semi-auto rifles available within the home
(or barn). My siblings and I. There where no accidents, no threats of death.
I knew the power of firearms OR the equalization of power of firearms even from
age 5. I'll tell you in remote areas OR EVEN packed like sardines in an urban
environment, you can call the police, and they will show up. They'll show up to
take pictures of the AFTERMATH. First responders are ALWAYS responding. They
are never there when the shit goes down.
I think Rudy Juliani got to PW with his 9-11 sale between 9am and 11am
everything is 9-11% off and if you think Saddam Hussein was involved in the 9-11
wtc attacks you'll receive an additional $9.11 and off.
Security alert RED. RED ALERT !!! RED ALERT !!! Dance little puppets dance.

From today's local newspaper:
Two were arrested in an alleged burglary that occurred around 3:30 a.m.
Wednesday. Jeffrey Robert "Italian Jay" Collett, 26, of Fort Walton
Beach, Fla., and Eric Phillip Erdman, 27, of the 9000 block of Willmington
Boulevard in Englewood, allegedly entered a house on the 9400 block of Downing
Street in Englewood and threatened a man with a gun, then tried to flirt with
and kiss two women who were in the residence. According to a Charlotte County
Sheriff's Office report, Collett apologized to the women for making a commotion
in front of them, but also allegedly threatened to kill everyone in front of the
women. The report indicates the victims and suspects knew one another. Collett
was charged with armed burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two
counts of battery. Erdman was charged with burglary. Collett was held without
bond and Erdman was held on $5,000 bond.

Sent to me in an email today:
I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. To which I
said I did. She said 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!' To which I said,
'Of course it is loaded. It can't work without bullets.' She then asked, 'Are
you that afraid of someone evil coming into your house?' My reply was, 'No not
at all. I am not afraid of the house catching afire either, but I have fire
extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too.' (Comments by Anoymous)
