Mine's comin' up this month.
One of my bro's decorated a b-day cake for me a dozen years ago with toy
soldiers and a model of an Apache in a battlefield diorama.
Some of the military wives attending my b-day party were horrified to see that a
few of the toy soldiers on the cake were enemy casualties complete with bullet
wounds and food dye "blood" as decoration.
Pretty grim, but not unexpected considering the sick SOB's I hang out with.
Wish I had the pic to post here.

my mom makes me 3 cakes, 1 for the boys at work (usually store bought) 1 is
chocolate almost fudge cake with pecans, the other is a spice cake from scratch
with buttercream frosting. they're all 3 sooooo good.
the chocolate cake is a "sheath cake" put it in the fridge and it
turns to almost fudge. mmmmmmm time to work out.

"Sheath cake?" Must be a regional thing. Sounds good though.
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: September 03, 2007 05:24PM
ask yer grandma. shouldn't be regional

Sure you didn mean "sheet cake" dude ? A sheet cake is usually made
in a large rectangular pan and is a single layer cake most commonly. The
rectangular ones you find at most stores (Wallyworld, Target, grocery store,
etc. and most notably, the one in the pic above) are called "sheet
cakes"

HERE YOU GO BOYS AND GIRLS......SHEATH CAKE (i was right

)
2 cups granulated sugar, 2 cups flour, 1 stick margarine (1/2 cup), 1/2 cup
Crisco, 4 tbsp. cocoa*, 1 cup water**. 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 eggs, slightly
beaten, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 tsp. baking soda.
Sift sugar and flour together in a large mixing bowl. Put margarine, Crisco,
cocoa and water in a saucepan and bring to a rapid boil.
Pour over flour and sugar mixture. Stir well and add buttermilk, eggs, soda,
cinnamon and vanilla.
Mix and pour in a greased and floured pan.
Cook 20 minutes, or until cake springs back when touched, at 400 degrees.
ICING (To be made 5 minutes before cake is done.) 1 stick margarine, 4 tbsp.
cocoa, 6 tbsp milk. Bring to a boil and add 1 box powdered sugar (3 1/2 cups),
1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup chopped nuts.
Beat well and spread on cake while cake is still hot.
*I sometimes substitute raspberry flavored cocoa here. **I sometimes
substitute chocolate raspberry brewed coffee here or just plain brewed coffee.
This cake stays moist and also freezes well.
("I"= my mom) i'm not a baker or a masterbaker, but i can eat the hell
outta this stuff! it gets better when you put it in the fridge (turns to almost
fudge). it is also one of the richest cakes you'll ever eat.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Aha ... then I stand (or actually SIT

corrected, sorta ....

A sheet cake is a style of
cake though and doesn't actually refer to the type of cake it is
That sounds absolutely wicked and decidedly delicious buddy, bon appetit
