Err, good question. I'd say a very slow shutter speed would have created that
illusion, but then the rest of the plane would be blurred. Maybe it was one of
those jet engined AT-6s rumored to have been developed during WW2.

Also known as a "Harvard" in GB and other markets. I paid a stupid
amount of money to fly one (with an instructor behind me) at the '96 Reno Air
Races. Not a very nimble plane, but really easy to fly!
