If the countries who have nukes were to get rid of them then the only ones with nukes would be North Korea and soon Iran. Beast thinks that would be acceptable.

the world didn't know the extent of nuclear power until Nagasaki. it should've been a clue that the technology shoulda been scrapped completely before someonewith delusions of grandeur got ahold of them. our use of nukes was an irrational response to getting the shit kicked outta our navy.
nukes are not a deterrent to attack, rather a threat of annihilation attack

Other countries were working on nuclear power as well. I we had scrapped the research and not developed it we would be behind on everything. Mutual assured destruction is the deterrent and has worked just fine so far. It will fail though if we allow radical countries to develop nukes, because they will be alble to sell them to the wrong people or use them themselves. The countries who have nukes must be afraid of total destruction to prevent them from using them.
