brokntoad: it is not a coincidence, in these kinds of races runners tend to run together with friends, so that they can healp each other; when there is a group of runners, the one which is on the front does the hardest job, so if you are with a group of friends, you can stay on the fron a while and then leave such a position to friends for a while and then go back on the front...it is a way for optimizing energies

Where you grow up, your diet and lifestyle is the difference. Doesn't hurt to be tall and thin of course. Africans do not hold all the records because it has nothing to do with being black.
