Even if they had a clean uncontaminated sample, DNA tests will never be able to prove bigfoot because there are no known samples to compare them to in any database. The only result that could be obtained would come back as inconclusive and would result in being an unknown species. The only proof would be to capture one alive and even then there would always be skeptics and if a body is brought in dead there would be even more skeptics.

I am not sure that a veterinarian is a qualified DNA expert but I am damn sure you aren't.

Bear grease works best to bone knotholes but I supposed that would give some really strange DNA results.

I agree I am not a dna expert but I do know that simply running the sample to obtain dna results tells you nothing unless you have a known result to compare it to. They take the result of the test and compare it to results of other known species and show it is none of them but unless they have known bigfoot dna results in the database they cannot say it is a bigfoot because they will never get a match to anything. There are samples of every know species in the database already to compare the results to and since bigfoot is not a known species their results will not be in the database. Common sense and watching Bones will tell you that. If the results do not match anything on record then the results are inconclusive.

wrong, if they do not match anything on record, it is conclusive proof of an unknown species.

JG, I don't claim that this person has any proof of anything, I though it was an interesting article and on topic. I really don't think you can claim to have a working understanding of DNA based on common sense and watching Bones on TV. That is actually laughable. Had you read and comprehended the article you would see that she claims to have found some DNA matches with human DNA traceable to the maternal side of the creature's history. Do I believe it is true? No, I don't. If her research passes peer review and is accepted as valid by the scientific community then I might be more prone to believe it.

BTW, JG, Bones is entertainment, not science class. Shows like that tend to have more holes than acoustic ceiling tile. Good show but don't take it as fact. It isn't and is not meant to be.

That is a funny movie. I like it.

I have met a lot of people who swear that Bigfoot is real. The problem with all of their testimonies is the same thing though, it is always someone who knows someone else who has the "proof" that we never get to see.

Damn, you mean Bones doesn't really work for the the Smithsonian and isn't really married to Angel? My world is shattered. Next you are going to tell me Finding Bigfoot and Ghost hunters isn't real.

Of course I know it is not real but there is some truth in their science and it is not too hard to determine where the truth is.

You are right fossil if the test does not get a match it could indicate an unknown species, but will be reported as inconclusive. I do believe there are Sasquatches around, my wife saw one many years ago and I believe her description of her encounter. I believe there existence will never be proven because there will always be those who wouldn't even accept proof with a captured live specimen.

Wrestling on TV has never been real, the only real wrestling is college wrestling.

I wonder if Sasquatch are actually aliens on vacation from their home world.
