there was one in the Dallas aquarium for like 45 years that died a year or 2
ago. i think he was like 60+ years old. that sucker was a solid 6 foot long nose
to tail and close to 3-3 1/2 feet around. they have a lot smaller one now that's
70 years old but only weighs 175 lbs.

When I was living in the redwoods I found a turtle crawling in the brush. It
was not a huge one, only about 6" shell. Me and a friend figured it was
probably an escaped pet and figured it was some kind of box turtle. I thought
about taking it home and taking care of it since I don't think they are native
to that area but thought it better to let it fend for itself and let nature take
its course. We asked around the area if anyone lost a pet turtle but nobody knew
anything about it.
