it`s alive and well here, too. You don`t have to pay road tax and you avoid congestion because you can use the bus / taxi lane on the motorway and you get free parking. But you look like a dick in a tiny car made of plastic. I`ll have that big block American motor, thanks! I f you want to save the environment stop using your little car for unnecessary journeys and walk instead. Then drive like a maniac at the weekends.

I just laugh at these enviro-assclowns when they pull up next to me in some piece of shit VW bus with the full compliment of bumper stickers. I have to roll my fuckin' windows up and hit the recirc button on the ac 'cause my eyes are burning since the shitwagon they're driving can get away with spewing something like 5-6% Carbon Monoxide into the atmosphere, and my built 1996 Impala SS with almost 500 HP breezes through the emissions test at .01 CO and less than 5 ppm HC. That's cleaner than ANYTHING built prior to 2000 and on par with the latest vehicles which meet standards beyond 2008 and EURO 2. Ironic, isn't it?

Hey, I am no angel either... I have a 93' Jeep Cherokee, 97' Dodge Intrepid (ex cop car) and a enviro hating 65' Chevy PU.

The point of the post was to possibly get some people to watch the documentary. It is about how California made a mandate for all major car companies to make a percentage of their line electric cars. They complied and leased the cars out. The drivers loved them. The car companies fought back and got the mandate killed. When the leases were up they forced the people to give the cars back and then they secretly crushed them even though people offered to buy them. All of the other major car companies followed suit. One of the reasons that they said the car wasn't feasable was the limits on range and speed. A battery company had a battery that would subsantially increase speed and range but GM bought a majority of the co.'s stock and wouldn't try the battery. GM sold the batt co. to Texaco.

I don't have time to go on as I am planning on doing my Christmas shopping early this year. Watch the movie as it is interesting. Bush doesn't run our country... Big oil does... but then again what is Bush's family business besides military supplies?

Hybrid cars produce SMUG. Thats what caused Kyle to move to SF. It also caused a huge storm when mixed with the smug from George Cloony's acceptance speech. It also caused people to like the smell of their own farts.smiling bouncing smiley

I thought that SF people just liked to smell their own farts. I don't think that smug had anything to do with it.

hmmm.... checked out the Tesla link and with a base sticker price of $92,000 I would say that the electric car is still dead. Cool car though.
