hmm... If the star were going supernova it would be a lot brighter than that, unless of course this is due to contrast in which case the radiation escaping through the super dense plasma (white streaks) presumably caused by the extreme forces involved with the star being consumed by the black hole (inside the star) would be so huge as to make the light emitted from this imploding star seem red/black.

Of course this could just be science fiction.
