Hmm, whether a light is extinguished or the lamp's been put out, the net effect is the same. The quote is really nothing but a smooth way of saying one obviously believes in an imaginary friend or some other plane of existence after this one is passed through. Either of these require a leap of faith that diverges with what is known as reality.
