I think the main thing is getting our PM's name wrong every time Sean Spicer tried to say it.
Anyway, the deal was a) a swap, and b) payment for a bunch of stuff Australia has done for the US.
The swap:
Australia would take an as-yet-unconfirmed number of Central American refugees in exchange for the U.S. taking up to 1250 people on Nauru and Manus Island.
So it's not just "America taking refugees from Australia" or "extreme vetting" or whatever Fox news says tonight - it was an exchange where we would likely end up taking more than the US does.
