Because the gunshots echoed off the bridge. Watch the Zagruder(SP?) film, 50ft after Kennedy is shot is the tunnel and bridge. Perfect to make an echo that would make it seem the shots sound came from the clearing just to the right of the overpass. Simple explanation using physics.
