Concerning slavery in America, African blacks sold black slaves from conquered tribes to Arab traders who in turn sold them to Europeans and then on to European colonies to be sold to colonists. Looks like pretty much everyone was involved but it was Africans who enslaved other Africans to start with. It wasn't a new thing even then. Slavery has been going on in the world throughout recorded history and has involved nearly all races and cultures.
