While there's truth in stating that most empires began and or grew from the use of slavery, it's just as disingenuous to proclaim it still exists relating to blacks in the US. Anyone stating to the contrary obviously lacks understanding of the US culture or legal system, unless you're referring to enslavement to, and not by, the welfare state, which would be an enslavement of their own choosing.

While the US Civil War ended the codification of black slavery here, many other types still exist here as well as in many countries. One of the most inconvenient facts regarding slavery in the early US however is that black Africans were actually the ones who sold their own black African brothers and sisters to willing buyers.

While slavery is a barbarous enterprise to be sure, it's unimaginable that such practices were tolerated by African society, and just as unimaginable that modern US blacks are almost completely ignorant of this fact as they tend to believe whites captured and enslaved them in Africa.

Enslavement by religion, caste systems, and various other means continue to this day throughout much of the world, yet hopefully will eventually be ended.
