So were all the prior and later empires.

Including the USA.

And if you think the civil war ended slavery in that country, you need only look at the original photo.

For the last 2000 years, African black populations have lived under the threat of slavery.
And the modern "emancipation" just changed the flies.
Little wonder they have not progressed much.
