The fact that drugs are illegal creates a whole subculture of illegality of its own.

If druggies could walk into a store and get their drug of choice instead of buyin it on the street a huge number of crimes would be decreased and eliminated, and ... the govt could stop wasting the billions of dollars they currently waste annually on the unwinnable war on drugs.

I'd rather see our taxes spent on treating addiction, which would be a lot cheaper too, than on incarcerating ever growing numbers of "criminals" whose greatest harm is what they do to themselves
