I haven't done any LP copying in a real long time. I've never used any compression when copying lps to digital, I just do it as wav files and delete em when I'm done burning the disc. I haven't done any in a long time though. I've only played around with compression for things that don't matter much to me. My turntable has a built in preamp so I don't need anything else. It a cheap thing but works fine and needs a new needle. Someone bent the needle shaft by knocking the tone arm onto the platter.
