At least the (even longer now) drive between our casas is all nice smooth highway ... till ya get to the last 1/4 mile leg of it which is nice rock road up the hill to my place fossil. I trashed the Technics turntable just last weekend and kept that Sansui you brought out along with the cartridge from the Technics, which was still good and will give it all another try once I get another receiver.

Yeah Blah, though I know it dudn take an uber-badass receiver to do LP to digital converting I am trying to get an RX-V3900 for all the reasons I mentioned, not just to rip my LPs into .flac files.

BTW, to anyone rippin their LPs/CDs in as .mp3s, the sound quality from the uncompressed .flac files are far better/fuller, but be forewarned, they're also HUGE files with some large compilation LPs/CDs coming out to as big as 1gig! The difference is like night and day between the output quality of these 2 differing file types though, so if HD space iddn a concern, give .flacs a try rock on

I don't believe Winblows Media Player will convert or play .flacs so you'll hafta get inventive in finding another Windbag program to take care of that. For we few Linux cats it's a snap with Audacity for the encoding, then pretty much any Linux media player will handle the .flacs as it's an open source format grinning smiley

I've located an RX-V3900 and am in negotiations with the seller for it, so we'll see if I get lucky. Part of my query to the seller is if he still has the original box and padding to insure this one has the best chance of making it here without bein damaged.

BTW, I already thought of the possibility of a short and disconnected all wiring from the receiver except the power cable and the result's the same ... it's a goner disappointed smiley
