It happened in 1947. Hardly news.
What isn't mentioned is that Doyle was already suffering from boxing related head injuries and only continued to fight in the hope that he could buy his mother a house. When Robinson learned of that he gave the money he made from his next few matches towards buying the home for Doyle's mom.
