circa 1986 I lived in a small town and there weren't any stereo stores around for several miles, so I ordered an MCS series stereo from the JCPenney catalog. ...It had a receiver, amplifier, turntable, dual cassette decks and a graphic equalizer. For a mere $129 extra I could have added a CD player, which was quite a bargain as they were going for about $400 at the time...I said nahhh those CDs won't catch on, they will get scratched and won't work, people will like cassette tapes better and CDs will fade away...oops.
