Not my photo but this is at Babcock Webb Lake which is literally just a couple of miles from my home. In the winter, when this pic was taken, they'll often just lay there soaking up the sun, too cold to move and not hungry because they need a body temp of about 80 degrees F to digest food. In the warmer months, of which we have plenty, the brush will be thicker & greener, a good hiding place, and they can be so well hidden that you don't know they're there until they make a very vigorous, noisy splash into the water.
