Ford, like Chrysler and GM looked into the $$ the fed govt was handing out but turned it down over the interventionistic strings that came with accepting it. For that I applaud Fords decision to not get to get on the public dole, nor accept outside influences in how they run their business.

The UAW members makin $100k plus for doin a job that in any other industry would net such unskilled workers a more realistic income in the $40k range is also a big part of the why cars have continued to skyrocket in price. And ... to the UAW reps that same $100k plus salary level would be laughed at as they draw much higher than that just to "represent" their UAW brethren, which again adds onto the cost of the cars just as surely.

The UAW people I've known are about as knowledgeable about the cars they assemble as the average 5th grader is about managing a national economy
