My dad worked for Westinghouse and later for Raytheon and he'd bring some of those big tape reel holders home once in a while too. He started out as a draftsman and became a mechanical/technical engineer for Burroughs but that usually involved circuit board and chassis layout design on a drafting board. You know, one of the drafting table jockeys we all love to hate.
