Unless you can stash enough food for a year or more then it won't help much if the shit hits the fan in the way it could. If the economy goes bankrupt and the government totally dissolves then it will take much longer then a year to bring some kind of order and get production back on it's feet. The violence which will erupt from it will be very costly to many people not just in this country but around the world. If the economy goes bankrupt then money will only be good for toilet paper and not too good for that either. When the economy goes bust then there will only be 2 ways for people to survive, barter or stealing or both. Guns will be the mainstay of survival both for protection and for hunting when there will be no food left in the stores and no money to buy it with.
