also I would be interested in knowing what led you to believe that "the American majority stands in opposition to this program"
I personally do not know anybody that is opposed to it...the only opposition I have seen is from blathering idiots grandstanding for their local tv news at town hall meetings...
I currently have health insurance provided in part my employer, I pay a large portion of the premium as well as 25% of every medical cost I incur and there is also a sizable deductible...when I need to go to the doctor I generally have to wait about two weeks for an appointment...when I go to my doctor he will invariably send me to see a different doctor, so now I get two bills instead of one...I could go on but I'm sure you will miss my point here...that point being that the current health care system sucks. if it aint broke don't fix it right? it is broken and needs to be fixed.

next time your house is on fire don't call the fire department, call a private company to come put it out.
