DK, I respect your thoughts and know there's some logic behind them in respect to government spending vs. return into the economy. However, unless you have spent hours upon hours researching this issue, its implementation costs, management costs and what all this means to the American people and economy at a juncture where so many people and companies are doing all they can just to survive the current economic conditions I feel you're truly ill equipped to comment on the functionality of this program as a whole.

It's one thing to view a thought, idea or process in an abstract way compared to inspecting all sides and parameters of it, then deciding with such an inspection under ones belt if it is sound or folly.

It's no secret the US economy is tettering on the brink of financial ruin these days. With that in mind additional taxes upon the wealthier sections of the population and small businesses will only serve to undermine economic growth, not stimulate it as this is essentially hitting both ends of the economic growth spectrum. The plan intends to get funding through attacking those capable of investing in development of new industries/jobs/sales and the start-up companies poised to expand and also create new industry/jobs and sales.

Then, since all other segments of the economy will also see increased costs for providing mandated health insurance to employees this in turn causes costs for every product and service to have to be increased to recoup these costs, which means, you guessed it ..... higher costs for everything, and sadly at a time when the US public is the least capable of shouldering such increases.

My thoughts on our "outside our borders" policies have been presented here multiple times as well as my position on a 20yr period of isolationism as a nation, so there's no point in rehashing it all again here now.

The truest down side to all the talk of a national health care program is that it simply leads to more bureaucracy, more government employees, meaning more money to fund their salaries and benefits which is all in addition to the cost of the health care coverage we will receive in return! Lastly, our government NEVER does anything profitably, starting in Home Town USA and all the way right up to Washington DC and with that in mind the one thing I feel sure of is this program will not only do the job poorly all in all, but it will do it in a totally inefficient way and costs be damned hot smiley
