When one of my sons was 19 he had cosensual, protected sex with a girl who was about six weeks shy of the age of consent, which is 16 here. Of course when the girl's parents found out instead of two teenagers getting randy it suddenly became kidnapping and rape until thousands of my dollars and many court appearances later she admitted the truth. I hope folks are starting to realize that girls aren't all little angels any more than boys are. My son could have done time in prison and been branded as a sexual predator for life. Because it was still technically statutory rape he got stuck with a misdemeanor battery on his record which is uncomfortable for him to explain at job interviews. He lost his job when he was arrested and in today's economy with that battery over his head he's had real problems finding steady work.
