The fruitwood stock elaborately carved in rococo motifs and extensively set with large embossed and chased silver plaques set with corals and enameled panels. The barrel tang signed and dated in Cyrillic characters, TULA 1742 in gold, barrel with applied silver plaques forming a stand of arms, a hunter with dogs and complex double arches, and further inlaid with gold stripes which highlight the Damascus pattern. Fine Russian presentation work in the Eastern style made as a diplomatic gift for an Ottoman or Central Asian ruler.Overall length 172.4 cm, barrel 134 cm.
