Had a holiday a few years ago with a few days in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. We were warned to stay in our hotel compound after dark. We thought there might have been a crime problem. Turns out it was because wild animals, including lions, were known to wander the streets at night. Apparently crime isn't much of an issue at night.
