He's actually quite brilliant. Not only did he create the basic show format (which generates huge revenue), when he discovers a Paul Potts or a Susan Boyle, he negotiates their contract. I'm sure Paul Potts has netted him over a million by now (since Paul is apparently worth over $4 mill now) and this woman will do the same. I agree it's torture but I'm sure Simon is just counting the dollar signs in his head.
