90130, you are completely misunderstanding my point, and honestly it's starting to piss me off! angry smiley

I am proud of my country (and I am sure my Uncle is too), and part of that is it's history, including it's independence, so no, the Japanese flag would not be acceptable to me. What I can't understand is how you cannot see that what the flag represents is so much more important than the flag itself! eye rolling smiley

IF (and yes it is in upper-case deliberately) the NZ flag was to change to something more contemporary it would not change my feelings towards my country and I would feel the same pride for my country seeing the new flag flying as i currently experience when I see the current one! cool smiley
