every time i hear "FORE!" i think of this story:
my dad and i were playing a friend of mine and his dad one time. teeing off on an elevated tee box, long straight down hill par 5. the group ahead of us are about 250 yds out. we all decided that we would hit into them easy, so pat says he can hit, he's been having a bad driving day. he lets loose the smoothest swing i think i have ever seen him swing (Arnold Palmeresque swing), crushes one right down the middle and starts to slice, we yelled "FORE!", one guy turns around, the ball takes a dip and turns right for him, he took off running towards the trees, looking over his shoulder a the ball. the faster he ran, the more that ball sliced! like it had eyes! it hits him right in the back of the thigh and he goes down like a rock! by the tie we got down there, he had a whelt the size of....you know.

that was almost 20 years ago and it seems like yesterday.
