They don't really need all that protection. He has the best protection against getting assainated he could get, and it's called Joe Biden.
Same thing with Bush, no one dared try to take him out because then we would have had Cheny in charge (officially).
Now if McCain had won and Palin had a shot at the White House he might have been in trouble.
