This attitude against a welfare state is ignorant too, a welfare state is not liberal, it is humanitarian. As for the what i earn i keep, i'm not paying more in tax attitude, again, pure ignorance. Higher taxes, used as a ploy to get elected is just the politicians screwing you again. Let me spell it out, again:
Higher taxes equals
Greater cost of products and services
leading to higher pay
because
businesses will charge more so that
you can get paid more and buy those things
so that nothing really changes
except better healthcare and govt. services
so it all evens out over time

the problem with this is that the politicians use the tax issue in elections to keep you down and so it has hard to implement because it takes time for the market to adjust to the higher tax. I pay 36% on earnings and I am happy living in the country that tops all the studies for the best place to live in the world. If you know of another world where I could be better off, let me know, I'll build a rocket ship and fly there.

America is a great nation,, compared to many others, but is not the best place in the world to live. Get over it. It is not a bad place to live, a fine place, a tolerant and modern society in the modern world. Is there room for improvement? Definitely.

You have other options than conservative christian oppression of the masses. Try to love the rest of the world and maybe you can improve your lives and stop living in fear.
