Had a conversation with one of my sons about this subject the other day. His girlfriend has two beautiful little girls who he really loves and can't bring himself to discipline so they're walking all over him. The girlfriend even wants him to be more stern and even occasionally give the kids a swat on the butt when the situation warrants. He asked my advice. So I asked him,"Haven't I always been pretty forceful with discipline and whacked your ass when it needed it?"
He said, "Yes."
"Do you hate me now or are you a violent person?" I then asked.
"No," he said.
"Well there ya go, son."
