The best trick for gettin a cut to stop bleedin is pullin the wound closed, somehow, no matter how you get it done & paddin it with somethin to help keep crap outta the thing. If you can't make it stop bleedin, then you're gonna wind up needin stitches.
From years of mechin the backs of my hands, wrists and lower arms are riddled with scars and only once have I ever gotten stitches. I damned near cut off the lil finger on my right hand by the 1st knuckle, so it took 4 stitches to get that fixed up
