I went to a wedding where this happened. The great-grandmother showed up in her old wedding gown. It seemed a little strange, but everyone in the wedding party acted as though it was normal. I thought it was just that she was a little crazy, but now that I see a picture of a similar scene, I wonder if there isn't some tradition about this.
