Don Dohler created the comics character Pro Junior in high school and later used it as a mascot for his fanzien Wild!, published between 1961 and 1963. Jay Lynch, Skip Williamson and Art Spiegelman were frequent contributors to this fanzine, so when Jay Lynch developed into underground comix in the 1970s, he resurrected the character for a strip he did with Robert Crumb. Lynch also produced Pro Junior Comics in 1971, and invited 22 other comic artist to contribute their own comic about Pro Junior , such as R. Crumb, Pete Poplaski, Trina Robbins, Art Spiegelman, Evert Geradts, Denis Kitchen, Joel Beck and Bill Grifith. Don Dohler did one other one-page strip for Lynch's one-shot Roxy Comics in 1972.
